It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Again, it's been awhile since I've blogged, but that's not because I haven't thought about it...I simply haven't sat down to DO it! We had a very nice Thanksgiving, with wonderful company and fellowship. The Bartels fam, Haynes, & Regi came over to celebrate with us. It was a great time with lots of food, plenty of wine, and a little catching up. I didn't take any pics, but maybe Anne will send a few to me, if I ask her nicely.
On Friday, we took Pierce to the Children's Museum and he had a ball!! He was EVERYWHERE!! Thank goodness B was with us, as I don't know how I would've handled chasing him all by myself...and I do mean CHASING! Later that day, we went to the park. It was beautiful here all weekend. We even saw temps into the 60's!

We decided to decorate the front of the house for Christmas. I must admit, my plan came out just as I had envisioned and I love it! All 3 of us "helped" & if you look closely, you can Piercey standing on the ladder with B...too funny!!
Pierce picked out the candy canes and he loves to "check" them to make sure they're in the ground, as he walks past them. We haven't done any decorating inside, but all in due time. My growing belly only allows for so much activity, ya know?
Pierce continues to grow and bring us much joy! I can't believe how big/grown up he looks in this pictures! Where did my baby boy go??!!
Enjoy the pics and we pray this finds you well. We have so much to be thankful for....

Carving Pumpkins & Trick Or Treat

Happy Halloween! We decided to only carve 2 pumpkins this year and thought Pierce would LOVE it. Oh, how wrong we were! He was PETRIFIED of the inside of the pumpkin (Please note the look on his face in these pics). He wouldn't even stick his hand inside to see what it was all about. Eventually, he just started to cry, so we let him down. B finished "Pierce's" pumpkin, I worked on my own, & Pierce watched his favorite TV show...Wheel Of Fortune!
The base library has story time on Friday mornings & this week the kids wore their costumes. Pierce thought it was pretty cool, but was probably more excited to see his buddy, Tyler and check out HIS costume!
For trick or treat, we went over to the Bartels. We had good food and great fellowship (thanks for hosting, Brian & Anne!). We took Pierce out to get some candy...and he really wasn't impressed. In fact, I think he hated the whole idea. He was afraid of the decorations at the houses and would literally, whine when he got up to the door. He made it to 4 houses and then we were done. I tried to dress up as Lois Lane, but I think I fell a little short. I forgot that you have to "do" your hair BEFORE you spray the black hair color...guess I'm a little out of practice. Anyway, that's who I was "supposed" to be in these pics!
Once the little guys got back to the house, they had a ball playing in Tyler's Tonka truck, pushing each other (please note Tyler's death grip on his Butterfinger) around, giving each other hugs, and checking out the trick or treaters that came to the door. Good fun!!
And, finally, I just couldn't resist posting these awesome jack-o-lanterns! I wanted to "trip" over the Yankees pumpkin and have it roll away, but I decided maybe that wasn't very good sportsmanship! ;) Go PHILS!

The Great Pumpkin Patch

Anyone who knows me, knows that I simply LOVE this time of year. I love pumpkins, carving them, Halloween, decorating the porch/yard with mums, hay, scarecrows, & eating anything with the word "pumpkin" in it. I think this time of year is one of the greatest times to see & appreciate God's beauty & splendor in all His creations. Happy Autumn!!
We took Pierce to a pumpkin patch and I must say, it was HUGE!! I don't know how many acres the Vala's own, but the place is FANTASTIC! Pierce had a ball! It was a little chilly that day, hence Pierce being all bundled up. We also met some people from B's work there, so the first few pics are by the campfire they had going. We had hot dogs & smores by the fire.
B had his "usual" roasted corn and he FINALLY got Pierce to understand how to bite it and then eat it. It was hilarious to watch, but B was SO proud that Pierce got it!!
While we were waiting for B to roast the hot dogs, Pierce was just cracking me up, so I took a few pics of him...too funny!
Last year, we had to hold Pierce up to the cut-outs. Well, this year, he was tall enough to stand by himself and he thought that was the GREATEST thing EVER!! His facial expressions were hilarious! He did NOT want to leave, but we had to journey on and pick out our pumpkins.
We finally made it out to the patch and again, Pierce thought this was awesome! He tried to walk over all of the biggest vines, which only seemed to grab his little ankles and pull him down. Because he was so top-heavy with all his clothing, he would bend at the waist and sort of fall, but his head would hit the ground first and he would catch himself with his hands. It was too funny! I would just grab the back of his coat and pull him back up~
It was a great family outing for the three of us~I'm sure we'll be back at Vala's Pumpkin Patch before fall is over.
